Rocky Mountain Fall
The Aspen groves ignite in hues of gold
The pines in their verdant clothes remain
As heralds of approaching winter’s cold
And blanket whiteness falling once again
The mountains, hills, and valleys sleepy grow
As shadows lengthen daily midst the woods
And Nature’s spritely dance begins to slow
To match the changing essence of Her mood
And thus we say farewell to one more year
As leaves are stripped to ground from every tree
And Nature, naked, clinging to Her every tear
Retires and slumbers, earthbound hushed Her plea
Until the thawing of the forest floor
Springs She to life with green once more
